Some landscapes reveal themselves through abundance, others through subtraction. The Pamir belongs to the latter. It opens itself to visitors through the absence of the elements that usually allow us to orient ourselves — trees, buildings, human presence, sound. What remains is essential: rock, water, sky, and a road that runs through them like a single line of meaning.

For twelve days we travelled the Pamir Highway, the artery winding through the high plateaus between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, gathering images and impressions along the way. What emerged is a story told in fragments: roads dissolving into the horizon, sudden shifts of light, rooms inhabited for a single night, fleeting encounters with those who call that land home.

A visual diary of a landscape that appears empty only to those who have not yet learned how to look at it.
